Punk Bride / Stylized Session
Earlier this spring, I got together with a new photographer friend of mine, Amanda Kolstedt, not fully knowing the greatness that would come in the future. First, I need to mention that this woman has so much passion and creativity — It’s refreshing to be in community with someone who shares a similar vision, drive, and humor! Check her out, she’s amazing. So in early May, we met for coffee and devised a brilliant plan to organize a stylized session here in Anchorage with accredited vendors, unique locations, and a funky style! We didn’t want this to be your typical “stylized session”, that’s for sure!
With the words, “unique, edgy, tough, and hauntingly beautiful” in the back of our minds, we set out to find the perfect pieces to fit our vision. Amanda has a perfect model in mind — her friend Victoria who has a killer pixie cut and a plethora of tattoos. We both knew that THE best bridal shop in Alaska is, by far, Bateau Bridal Boutique so we got one of Tara’s newer gowns to help set the scene. Natasha with Alaska Knit Nat has an amazing portfolio and we knew giving her creative freedom over the floral arrangements would be not only a creative outlet for her, but a fun surprise for us! Fifth Avenue Jewelers in absolutely amazing and has gorgeous, “non-traditional” sapphire rings that we knew would add that little hint of color we needed.
With all of that said, I hope you enjoy these images I took during our collaborative stylized session between some dedicated, passionate, and creative vendors here in the Last Frontier!
